Sellin Fire Brigade

As almost all fire brigades in Germany, Sellin citizens, who fulfil their duty on a voluntary basis, operate Sellin fire brigade. The Sellin fire brigade was founded in 1906, about 70 years after the first fire brigade whatsoever in Germany had taken on their work. Since 1994, the Sellin fire brigade is stationed in its present service building, which provides a garage with electric four doors storing modern technical equipment, a sanitation and a conference room. As life saving vehicles, there are two fire engines, one of which is stationed in Seedorf. The brigade also uses a fire brigade van, a hose trailer, a field kitchen, and a rubber dinghy. Every year in July, Sellin Voluntary Fire Brigade holds a fire brigade festival for citizens and visitors of the Baltic seaside resort of Sellin. In addition, during the year it assists numerous events of the spa administration. Young people in Sellin Youth Fire Brigade are supported by playful events and practical basic fire brigade education.
