In cold winters the ice floes pile up on the beach and every walk gives a freshness kick. We ski in the forest of the Granitz, toboggan in the Sellin hills and or play ice hockey on the ice rink.
When enough snow has fallen, the Granitz turns into a hotspot of winter sports. Employees of the municipality pull cross-country ski trails through the Granitz with a self-made snow plow attached to a multicar. These have been approved by the Biosphere Reserve Office Southeast Rügen for this winter sport. The circuit starts at the Sellin spa clinic at the edge of the Sellin forest and leads via the cross oak to Hartmannsruh, where there is a parking lot, so that one could also start from there.
