Sellin Youth Leisure Centre
Sellin youth leisure centre is a municipal institution. In its venues at Siedlung am Wald, young people up to 18 years of age may spend their leisure time with others and free of costs, from Monday to Saturday. During the summer months, the centre is located at South beach meeting point. From here excursions, play and activities on the beach or in the scenery are carried out. Accompanied by a committed staff, leisure time is more than just time spent together here. Young people choose from the permanent offers, what they like to do or join one of the organized events. It is the goal of the institution, to make them fit at body and mind and stimulate them to explore their senses with a lot of fun. At Sellin Youth Leisure Centre, young people may play billiards, table tennis, or darts. However, there is also opportunity to paint and write at the computer. Silk painting and handcrafting encourage creativity and skill, at cooking or baking the community is at the centre of interests. There is also a model railway to play with and the chance to learn all you need to know to take care for an aquarium. At sports tournaments attractive prizes may be won, and several times a year there are parties for young people. At all events and the offers of Sellin Youth Leisure Centre also young people over 18 years of age are welcome, as well as those spending their holiday at the Baltic seaside resort of Sellin.

Walking Friends Sellin, Baabe Göhren (SBG)
Walking Friends Sellin, Baabe, Göhren (in short SBG) exist since 1990. The organization was founded to bring together people who enjoy nature, care for their health, and like to be with other people. SBG is the only walking association on Rügen being a member of the German Peoples’ Sports Association (DVV) in the International People’s Association (IVV). Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, as well as Mecklenburg Western Pomerania are members of the nationwide organization; all of them stay in close contact to each other. Currently about 40 members meet once a month for common rambles on the Island of Rügen and especially on Mönchgut peninsula. One aim of the association is to promote knowledge about Rügen isle and its scenery to ramblers in Germany and abroad. With their activities, the Walking Friends contribute to the attempts of prolonging the tourist summer season and to offer holiday visitors of the Baltic shore interesting trip opportunities. There are also “hiking days” and a walking marathon. In 1999, the Walking Friends opened up the IVV round trip Southeast Rügen divided into 5 different trails, and of a total length of 121km. Further events of the Walking Friends are meetings in the societies’ assembly rooms and trips to walking destinations in other regions.
