“Cast off!“ is the motto on August 12 and 13 when the yearly regatta “Round Stubber“ starts. The washed over island in Greifswald Bodden is a legend amongst experienced sailors, because they rather often fail to notice it. At this regatta it is at the focus of a competition of boats of all classes. On a 20 miles triangular course they round the obstacle and prove, how fast they are. The winner is not, who passes the finish line first, but who is fastest according to yardsticks. In Seedorf at the shallow inland water of the “Having” boats had been built in the 19th century which were much sought after in the whole Baltic Sea because of their technical quality. Therefore this is the right starting harbour for the regatta. Many participants are expected again this year and also much wind and sun. Seedorf Harbour Festival will secure the right maritime atmosphere at this most popular event. On the eve before the regatta some of the sailors’ yarn will be told, while others exchange their knowledge of the sailing grounds, others have a good time at the party. When lights are turned off at 1 o’clock a.m. the time has come to say goodbye for all those, who are going to sail the next day. After the early morning first mates’ meeting, all of them set sail together in a colourful confusion of sails, large and small yachts, dinghies and old fishermen boats. Only two hours later the first boats return to the harbour and without a minute of boredom either at sea or at land, the winners’ presentation ceremony takes place at 8 p.m. Of course there will be music and dance until the planks pitch like on a boat at sea.Programmablauf
