Baltic sea potters’ market (Ostsee Töpfermarkt ) in Seedorf harbour
More than 35 potters from all over Germany meet at the yearly Baltic sea potters’ market in Seedorf. What began in 2000 as a cosy meeting, today is an outstanding cultural event for the region and a real adventure for participants and visitors. Young creatives and old hands are part of the market in mid-September. All participants are carefully selected and invited to the market; and Rügen workshops are represented as well. At their market stalls in idyllic Seedorf harbour potters offer selected earthenware of high quality: tableware for everyday use, vases, boxes, jewellery, objects and sculptures. Traditional salt glaze is to be found as is faience, Raku or luxurious porcelain. Traditional pot designs and ornaments exist beside crazy ideas and funny decoration. There is an exhibition shown at “Granitzhaus” below “Jagdschloss Granitz” from early September. These objects will be exhibited later at the Baltic seas potters’ market for visitors being invited to chose their favourite piece. Both days of the Baltic sea potters’ market are accompanied by a varied programme: gospel choir and jazz, puppet theatre for children and culinary refreshments await the visitors who are expected to come in crowds to this nice autumn adventure in the hilly lands of Sellin. Many activities to take part in, the chance to see good ceramics and take it home or give it as a present are good reasons to visit the Baltic sea potters’ market in Seedorf harbour. |
