Travelling the Island with the Narrow-gauge Railway
The historical narrow-gauge railway »Rasender Roland« (Racing Roland) stops and takes off in the Baltic Seaside Resort Sellin »Rasender Roland«, that is how the nostalgic narrow-gauge railway is called, is a cosy alternative to driving by car. The tiny train puffs along from Putbus via Sellin to Goehren and back since 1899. Those 24 kilometres are left over of a narrow-gauge railway net on the island of Ruegen formerly almost 105 kilometres long. No matter where you wish to go: this journey will certainly be one of the highlights of your tour.
