Page 1 of 7 Take a walk through the Granitz, the Baaber heathland or around the Sellin Lake in connection with a rowing boat ferry crossing.Welcome to the Biosphere Reserve South Eastern Ruegen!Since autumn 1999 a circular hiking route of more than 121 km length invites to discover a part of our marvellous island, which is problaby of the most diverse scenic variety. The tour follows the guidelines of IVV. On 5 sections between 17 and 31 km long you will experience a cultural landscape shaped by idyllic fishing villages and attractive swimming resorts.  The paths lead you to fine grained beaches, through magnificent beech woods, over salt meadows and arid grass areas, past thousands of years old megalithic graves and along the cliff line high above the sea. From many points you have a fantastic view over this unique landscape. Many museums invite you to stay and let you know about history and culture of this swathe of land. Walk with open eyes and you behold many rare plants and animals. In the Biosphere Reserve they are under special protection. Please take this matter of concern into account and contribute with your behaviour to the conservation of this landscape. Do not walk beside the paths and do on no account tread over the barriers at the cliffs because there is the risk of falling. If you wish to contact other hikers you should not miss the yearly hiking week.
